Steve Jobs syrien sur les murs de Calais

Steve Jobs, l'ancien patron d'Apple, un baluchon sur le dos et un ordinateur en main, sous un pont de Calais... La dernière oeuvre de Banksy, mystérieux artiste britannique célèbre pour ses fresques murales, fait réfléchir. Le street artist a voulu une nouvelle fois éveiller les esprits au sujet de la crise migratoire en choisissant de représenter Steve Jobs, fils d'un migrant de Syrie, sur un pont à l'entrée de la jungle de Calais.

D'après le Huffington Post, Banksy aurait déclaré : "Apple paie plus de 7 milliards de dollars d'impôts chaque année, et existe seulement car on a accueilli un jeune homme venu de Homs." D'après le site Culturebox, le père de Steve Jobs était en effet syrien, originaire d'Homs.

Cada uno de nosotros tiene justamente su identidad bien formada y definida: ingeniero, licenciado, doctor, madre, abuelo, etc. Pero ¿será esto lo que en última instancia me define como persona? ¿Será esto el destino de mi existencia? Algunos hombres nos sorprenden diciéndonos, a través de sus actos, que no es así, que esto no es suficiente, que hay algo más misterioso que nos define y que la pertenencia común a este misterio nos hace ser hermanos y parte de un único pueblo.

Más aún, nos demuestran que la trama de las relaciones entre nosotros es justamente el instrumento para hacer posible que el misterio esté presente en el mundo. El poeta Tomas Eliot dice: “¿Qué vida es la vuestra, si no tienen vida en común? No existe vida, sino es vivida en comunidad”.

Illustrator Thomas Lamadieu Continues to Imagine the Strange Inhabitants Living in the Sky Between Buildings

French illustrator Thomas Lamadieu (previously) continues to travel the world to photograph vertical views of the spaces between buildings which he uses as a canvas for his comical illustrations. The gaps between roofs and gutters form the inspiration for different characters who inhabit the irregular patches of sky. To find the unusual vantage points Lamadieu visited Spain, South Korea, Germany, France, Canada and the United States in the last year. You can find more examples on his website.

Modernism in Ruins: Artist "Vandalizes" a Le Corbusier Masterpiece

Brussels-based visual artist Xavier Delory likes to poke fun at history. His latest project Pèlerinage sur la Modernité (Pilgrimage on Modernity) is an irreverent look at the meaning of Modernist masterworks today. The first images in the ongoing series sharply questions the role of Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye in Modernist historiography, as Delory renders its walls covered in graffiti, and its famed ribbon windows smashed. It’s a fate reminiscent of that which has befallen the ubiquitous banlieue housing projects that the Villa’s modernism in part inspired.

Delory presents this alternate Villa Savoye with head-on images of its four elevations, confronting viewers with hypothetical vandalism and a mastery of trompe l’oeil Photoshopping. Among the typical aerosol scribblings of signatures and swears, a diving shark and the text of Le Corbusier’s Five Points are also visible. The unnamed vandals have thrown rocks through the windows, leaving some shattered, others boarded up or covered in plastic. Weather, too, has played its role in this fantasy of ruination—large slabs of whitewash have chipped and fallen from the once-pristine facade.

Favela Painting

The Favela Painting project started in 2005 when dutch artists Haas&Hahn (Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn) had the idea of creating public artworks in favelas in Rio de Janeiro. Not just to beautify, but also to create a dialogue with their surroundings. After several successful projects, the image of a square painted in a design of radiating colors yielded worldwide fame and transformed Rio into 'one of the world’s 10 most colorful places', according to CNN.

 Haas&Hahn were invited to show their work at the New York based gallery Storefront for Art & Architecture, followed by an invitation from the Philadelphia Mural Arts program to paint several complete blocks in a dilapidated area in North Philly. The artists get invited worldwide to teach, to speak about their work, consult cities on community art projects and look at possible locations for future projects. They have recently restored their first painting in Rio and are currently planning a grand return to paint an entire favela.

Over the years the Favela Painting Project has grown into a professional organization, based in the Netherlands. It’s focus is: mobilizing people to transform their own communities into social art works of monumental size, to beautify and inspire, combat prejudice and attract positive attention, while offering opportunity and economic stimulus.

PEACE IN THE WORLD

Uomini liberi, alzate un grido forte e unanime per la pace nel mondo!
Mentre la nostra attenzione viene dirottata sui mercati economici e sulle prossime elezioni americane, nella regione mediorientale si sta ridisegnando il nuovo assetto del potere globale.
La Siria pare essere diventata “l’ultima frontiera” dalla quale non arretrare nella prova di forza tra gli USA, con i suoi alleati occidentali, e la Russia del ritrovato Putin.
Le consistenti risorse energetiche su cui appoggiano gli Stati della Regione, la fame rapace di tali fonti che nutrono i mercati internazionali, la necessità di libero e indisturbato accesso alimentano drammatici venti di guerra.
Ma in Siria, come negli Stati limitrofi, vivono forse delle “non persone” che, come già diceva George Orwell, non possono entrare nella storia?
Che ne è delle donne e degli uomini comuni, siano essi siriani, turchi, afgani, iracheni, iraniani, egiziani, palestinesi, libici, libanesi, israeliani? Che ne è della loro sofferenza, della morte, dell’oppressione, delle atroci malvagità subite, della fame di pane e di giustizia, della disperazione di essere privati della libertà?
Le loro immani prove, che rendono disumana anche la nostra vita, possono continuare a lasciarci indifferenti?
Possiamo ancora permettere che una società in cui la tecnologia diventa il braccio dell’unico dio denaro, tanto che i soldi per qualsiasi guerra si trovano sempre, ci faccia credere che i conflitti armati siano l’unico strumento di prevenzione e di soluzione del male che incombe sull’uomo?
Di fronte a tale aberrazione potremo ancora continuare a usare timide e balbettanti parole quali si leggono nelle risoluzioni delle Nazioni Unite?
E’ questo il tempo della responsabilità. Di tutti e di ognuno. La prima responsabilità è quella di uscire dal qualunquismo e dal cinismo degli interessi privati che ci chiedono di non impegnarci, di non sacrificarci per nessuno e per niente e di starsene “quieti” finchè possiamo.
NON POSSIAMO perché l’ingiustizia, se c’è un uomo che la sopporta, che la tace, che la asseconda con l’indifferenza, con il tempo viene accettata e considerata come una giustizia.
NON POSSIAMO perché è facile dimenticare di essere umani, cioè parte dell’umanità tutta, e tutti siamo colpiti nella nostra umanità dalle ferite che il potere infligge a chi è trattato come una “non persona”.
Scegliere il tema della pace, quindi, significa basarsi sulla convinzione che il male non ha l’ultima parola nelle vicende umane e che le immani sofferenze dei popoli e dei singoli devono interpellarci.
In ogni caso e contro tutte le guerre il PPL alza la sua voce: NO ALLA GUERRA.
