David Tartakover (1944-)
Studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem. Graduate of London College of Printing (1968). Since 1975, David has operated his own studio in Tel-Aviv, specializing in culture and politics. Tartakover is known for his self-produced posters dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His work has won numerous prizes in Israel and abroad, among them are: gold medal, 8th Lahti Poster Biennial, Finland (1989), and Grand Prix, Moscow International Poster Biennial (2004). His works are included in the permanent collections of museums in China, Europe, Japan and the USA. He collects and researches the history of Israeli design and is also the curator of design exhibitions at museums in Israel and abroad. Among the books he has published is a lexicon of the 1950s in Israel, Where We Were, What We Did (Keter Publishing). Tartakover has had solo exhibitions in: Israel, Argentina, Belgium, China, France, Germany, Japan, Poland, Russia and the US. He is the Israel Prize laureate (2002).
